Dozy burglar caught watching TV and sipping soft drink at mayor’s house in Denia

A DOZY burglar in Denia has been nabbed by police after he was caught watching television and drinking a soft drink at the mayor’s summer house in the campo last week.

Denia mayor Vicent Grimalt said he arrived at his 2nd home to find the gate’s motor not working and the front door broken into before calling in Policía Local last Tuesday, November 12.

Authorities caught the well-known thief in front of the television with ‘just a few pens and things of no importance’. Grimalt explained his ‘house was a summer house so all we have there are some soft drinks and a few beers’.

The alleged criminal was already wanted by police for a breaking into a separate house he didn’t realise was occupied at the time and fled the scene when confronted by its inhabitants.
