Halloween parties in one town result in 80 fines for non-compliance on Spain’s Costa Blanca

Orihuela Centre

BREACHES of new social-distancing rules throughout the Orihuela area led to 80 fines at the weekend.

Local police sanctioned party-goers at numerous Halloween parties on Saturday, mainly for non-compliance of border restrictions.

From Friday lunchtime, crossing the border in and out of the Valencian Community has been heavily restricted in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Ruben Selma, spokesman for Orihuela police, revealed many sanctions were given for acts of vandalism in and around the town.

With the All Saints holiday on Sunday, November 1, the police didn’t record any incidents throughout the city’s cemeteries, where additional security was put in place.
