JASMINE Harman has revealed her love for a special kind of fruit that can only be picked in Spain during a certain time of year.
The A Place In The Sun star took to Instagram to share her favourite homemade ice cream recipe, which she regularly makes with her two children at the home they share in Estepona on the Costa del Sol.
It’s main ingredient is the picota cherry, which is an exclusive form of cherry that is only grown in the Jerte Valley in Extremedura.
Unlike normal cherries, they do not have a stem. They are also much sweeter and juicier and are less acidic than regular cherries.
Meanwhile, their firmer skin makes them more crunchy when you bite into them.
But if you want to try them you will have to be quick, as Picotas are only picked between mid-June and mid-late August.
While the best common cherries of California or Navalinda measure up 32mm in circumfrence or more, picotas range between sizes of 24 and 26mm.
They are much richer and are of such a high quality that they have been deemed a protected food heritage by the Spanish government.
