Troubled Malaga barrio under lockdown as police launch massive ‘land and air’ operation following wave of shootings

A NEIGHBOURHOOD in Malaga has been placed under lockdown after police launched a major operation following a recent wave of shootings in the city.

Around 250 Policia Nacional officers have been mobilised in the La Trinidad district in the early hours of this morning, in one of the largest operations seen in the area for years.

The raid comes after a series of violent clashes between rival clans, with tensions escalating in recent weeks with several shootings across Malaga.

Both uniformed and plainclothes officers took part, alongside specialised units wearing balaclavas and equipped with intervention gear, while a police helicopter circled overhead, according to Malaga Hoy.

So far, at least 10 people have been arrested and more than 20 house searches have been carried out. Among those detained was a woman seen being led away in handcuffs.

Large numbers of police vehicles were positioned in parts of the neighbourhood, particularly on Calle Armengual de la Mota and Calle Bailen. Several units were also spotted near Malaga’s Civil Hospital.
