Dear Olive Press readers,
Spain made headlines around the world this week for its impressive economic growth during a period in which many big economies are stalling.
The country, headed by Pedro Sanchez and his Socialist party (PSOE), was also praised by The Guardian newspaper for being a ‘progressive beacon in dark times’.
Donald Trump continued his threats of tariffs against the EU, vowing a 25% surcharge on all goods imported from the bloc, which he said was designed to ‘screw the US’.
He also waded into Spanish politics alongside his confidante Elon Musk, with both openly supporting the far-right party Vox and its leader Santiago Abascal.
It comes as Americans are continuing to abandon the US for Spain in droves, with a report this week revealing how they are snapping up homes in posh neighbourhoods.
In travel news, an analysis of hotel prices has revealed the cheapest, and most expensive, holiday destinations in Spain for 2025.
Meanwhile, Tivoli World, the much-loved Costa del Sol theme park, will be a whole lot different when it reopens its doors, as plans for its revamp were revealed.
In property news, protests are taking place on the Costa Blanca after hundreds of homes were re-classified as belonging to the government, sparking outrage.
Plus: ‘Beverly Hills’ style flats are being built in the historic city of Cordoba, and they are much cheaper than their coastal counterparts.
