THE island is known for some of the craziest nightlife in the world.
But now Ibiza will transform its most famous dance venues into large art spaces as a major new exhibition launches across the island.
In a bid to reshape how culture is experienced on the island, a phalanx of paintings and installations will line three of its most famous superclubs.

Clubbers will now party alongside everything from ‘basic’ paintings to hightech projection mapping to create ‘breathtaking, lifelike digital animation sequences’.
The exhibition will be hosted at Hï Ibiza, Ushuaïa and [UNVRS], as part of the so-called Culture Collective, a season-long showcase running until mid-October.

The initiative is led by The Night League, the company behind many of the awards these famous clubs have won.
The group is renowned for continually pushing the boundaries to deliver world-class music experiences.
The league will partner with London-based public art platform W1 Curates, known for redefining how contemporary art is experienced beyond the gallery.

The platform is behind Europe’s largest public art screen on Oxford Street and its creative hub in Shoreditch, led by Mark Dale.
W1 Curates has been working on the Ibiza exhibition for more than two years and promises a ‘sensation’.
The venues will be filled with works from over 70 artists, including a strong British contingent.
It includes Michael Craig-Martin, a contemporary conceptual artist and member of the Royal Academy, celebrated for his brightly coloured, graphic paintings of everyday objects.

Photography is represented by David Bailey, an iconic English fashion and portrait legend, while Harry Yeff (Reeps100), a Grammy Award-winning artist, will present Voice Gems.
The organisers have tried to think outside the box, and instead of asking visitors to step into a gallery, they have flipped the concept by placing artworks directly in the path of thousands of clubbers each night.
Alongside the installations, a two-day ‘Ibiza Art Weekend’ will be hosted next weekend (May 8–9) for any culture vultures looking to indulge in style.

Across the weekend, The Night League and W1 Curates will welcome over 70 artists spanning electronic music, fine art, digital art, urban art and fashion for a programme of industry panels, exhibitions and DJ sets.
What art can you find in each club?
Starting with the number one club in the world, [UNVRS], which only opened last year, you can already expect cutting-edge technology inside the venue.
Now, the experience even begins before guests enter, with a monumental stone carving dominating the entrance.

Besides that, the state-of-the-art technology enables a hyper-customised, interchangeable production for each event, pushing every aspect of the venue beyond the limitations of the superclub.
The next venue might be one of the most popular in the world, Hï Ibiza, a multi-award-winning nightlife institution.
Inside its two rooms of internationally acclaimed headline DJs, you will be able to immerse yourself in the art.
Including a third dancefloor, there will be a surprise waiting, as this space is now known as the ‘wildcard room’.

The venue will also transform its breathtaking outdoor terraces and luxury bars into its ‘first-of-its-kind in-club art gallery’.
As the club says, ‘This is where music, art and culture will collide’.
The final hosting club is Ushuaïa Ibiza, which has a reputation for attracting international thrill-seekers.
Here, they will create a different dynamic, placing artworks within its open-air setting where they shift in atmosphere from daylight to the intensity of nighttime events.

Organisers say the idea is to create moments of surprise, where people encounter serious art in places they least expect it, which some might call an early Christmas present.
They wanted a unique approach aimed at audiences who may never visit traditional galleries, helping to promote and widen access to contemporary art.

Several contributors have strong links to the UK creative scene, reinforcing the British footprint behind the project.
The island has long been a cultural crossroads, but this marks one of the first times its biggest clubs have been used as platforms for fine art on such a scale.

Tickets will not only allow you to witness this unique debut, but also combine access to discussions with entry to club nights, merging cultural programming with Ibiza’s signature nightlife experience.
The exhibition will evolve throughout the summer, with new works added as the season progresses.
