A GUARDIA Civil dog called Pompa has sniffed out €195,000 stashed between car seats at a motorway police checkpoint in Albacete.
The young Belgian Shepherd specialises in detecting large amounts of banknotes and was brought into action on the A-31 at Chinchilla de Montearagon.
The Ukrainian car driver could not explain how he came about such a big sum of money after Pompa’s find, leading to Guardia officers seizing the whole lot.

The banknotes were split into several packages.
Spain’s anti-money laundering laws state that the maximum amount of money that can be transported without the need to declare it is €100,000 or the equivalent value in foreign currency.
The man has been denounced for breaking the law, and the Guardia Civil is investigating where the money came from.
Last year, Pompa discovered €280,000 which was undeclared during checks on the A-43 motorway, in Villarrobledo- also in Albacete province.
The money was hidden under the seat of a vehicle distributed in 28 wads of €50 notes.
The car driver, a 35-year-old man from Marbella, could not account for its origin.
Pompa’s skills also stretch to locating drugs and finding missing people.
Dog experts say the Belgian Shepherd breed stands out for its intelligence, strong protective instinct and great energy at work, which makes it ideal for working with the police.
